#34 - What is health and wellness coaching and who is it for?

You might just like me be wondering what this concept means, what is Health and wellness coaching? In its simplest explanation it is a process that helps individuals achieve their health goals by helping them develop the necessary tools, support, and systems. It is a collaborative approach that empowers individuals to take charge of their health and well-being. At their own pace, in their own time.

Over the past 24 weeks I have been working on a few things behind the scenes to improve my knowledge and abilities to help people. One of them is L2 master health coach certification.

It is a funny thing with how my education and learning has come about, almost every time I find myself in situations where I am faced with a particular client dilemma that  I am unable to help them solve, and I get really interested in how I can hack that.

I kept meeting people in the gym that wanted a training program to fix their lifestyle, but the training program only addressed that 1 hour a day 3-5x each week and then there was all the other hours and the other habits that we addressed in the last 5 min of the session on a whim like, yes you should also drink more water, go on regular hikes and manage your stress. Truth is we all know that we need to, but most of us struggle with how to do that, and lack actionable steps to follow. I find nowadays the tables have turned and I now have the knowledge and know how to spend more time on those things that actually make a much bigger impact on the bottom line of the individual's health.

My role as  a health and wellness coach

Is to help individuals identify their health goals and develop a plan to achieve them. The coach works with the individual to create a personalised plan that takes into account their lifestyle, preferences, and health history. The coach also provides ongoing support and guidance to help the individual stay on track and make progress towards their goals.

One of the key benefits of health and wellness coaching is that it helps individuals make sustainable lifestyle changes. Many people struggle to make lasting changes to their health habits because they lack the knowledge, motivation, or support to do so. Health and wellness coaching addresses these barriers by providing individuals with the knowledge, motivation, and support they need to make lasting changes.

Another benefit of health and wellness coaching is that it helps individuals improve their overall health and well-being. By working with a coach, individuals can identify areas of their health that need improvement and develop a plan to address them. This can include improving their diet, increasing their physical activity, quality of their relationships, reducing stress, and improving their sleep habits.

Who might benefit from it?

Health and wellness coaching can benefit a ray of clients. The people that I see most often fall into two categories, firstly the person who is feeling out of touch with themselves, and not like they are satisfied and happy in their own skin, season of life.

Secondly individuals who have chronic health conditions. Many chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity, can be managed through lifestyle changes. Health and wellness coaching can help individuals with chronic health conditions develop a plan to manage their condition and improve their overall health.

To summirize

Health and wellness coaching is a valuable tool for me to help guide individuals who want to improve their health and well-being and build their Thriving Lifestyles.

It provides individuals with the knowledge, motivation, and support they need to make lasting lifestyle changes and improve their overall health. If you have an area in your life that you would like to improve, don't hesitate to reach out and lets see how we can together start putting some plans in action.

All the best
