#38 Pro's and Con's of Online Coaching

Welcome to the day & age when we no longer have to go out to buy things or groceries for the house because we can just order online, when even schools & universities have the option of doing online class instead of face-to-face. Obviously, the online world has made everything so convenient.

Ever since the pandemic, the rise of online platforms in almost every industry has been evident. Nowadays, almost everything is moving into the online world & there’s no stopping it.

Well, this can be just as beneficial for fitness coaching & here’s why.

The Benefits of Online Coaching

What are the benefits of online coaching? What problems can it more easily solve in comparison with having a personal trainer at the gym?

First thing that comes to mind is flexibility

Online coaching can adapt to your schedule, workload, routine, etcetera. There’s no need to change your routine because online coaching can & will adjust – this is the beauty of it.

It’s even beneficial for both the trainer & the trainee.  Sometimes the most difficult thing about going to the gym to meet with a personal trainer is having to find the time to let your schedules meet without any conflict. Because you can both adjust to whenever you are free. Anyway, you get to this at the comfort of your own home.

Less lost sessions and more compliance: With online coaching, when you have something urgent that suddenly comes up or job that you just have to finish, it’s easier to modify your schedule as compared when you have an in-person session with a personal trainer. With online coaching, you can work your way around to adjust to each other’s schedule.

More options: Clients can now train when they want & where they want the same way coaches can coach where they want & when they want. The best part is its availability at any time & any place.

Cost efficient: You get the same set of package when you do an in-person training yet pay less. It’s definitely a win-win situation. So, if I were you, I would opt for the online option!

Downsides of Online Coaching

There are some downsides, and online coaching is not meant to replace Personal Training more like suppliment it and solve other types of needs.

First thing that needs to be addressed is that there is more admin for both parties : Less in person actions, means more video recording, sending and admin related to getting correction on movements and update on workouts.

It can also lead to delayed response time: different time zones and a coach that can be occupied with other tasks and clients often means delay in reply to inquires and messages.

Many people feel like there is too much freedom & begin to feel lonely: feeling like no one is watching and cares, for some its not enough to get a message and thumbs up for motivation. some really prefer that group in person environment for certain types of workouts and goals.
